The Greenest Thing About the 2011 Superbowl XLV

The greenest thing about Superbowl XLV, besides the field, will not be the ads. In Business Insider’s pre-game round up of the best ads for the game, only the Chevy Cruze  “misunderstanding” ad has any environmental message whatsoever. But, while the key message is that the Chevy Cruze Eco boasts 42 mpg mileage,  the concept is floated through some well-trodden senior-bashing comedy shtick. Oh, good for them, I guess!

The better news is that the Dallas stadium where the game will be held raises the bar for ecologically-sensitive sporting arenas–to the degree that it is possible for a new development, or a gathering of tens of thousands of people, to be eco-sensitive. Seems that the development of the new arena was tied in to habitat and watershed  restoration that had been needed for years. I hope it’s true, and I hope that the wildlife has a great tailgate party!
